Past Events
DTP’s Traffic Operations Centre
On 27 May, 34 Members and guests visited the Department of Transport and Planning’s Traffic Operations Centre (TOC) in the Department’s Ringwood multi storey office complex.
 The TOC utilises over 2,900 cameras across the network to perform a number of functions including providing Emergency Services and Major Projects support, media and travel advice, customer contact frontline, signals and electrical systems monitoring and public transport support. The TOC’s interest is managing same day/night activities. It also works closely all day, every day with Transurban and works closely with the Transport Accident Commission.
Sunshine Superhub
On 31 March 2026 we went to a DTP presentation on the Sunshine Superhub (Melbourne Airport Rail Stage 1) where we learnt about the massive expansion planned for the Sunshine railway station.
Visit to Ballarat
On 9 & 10 Oct 2025 we visited Ballarat. On the Thursday we had a presentation from the DTP followed by dinner at the Ballarat Leagues Club. On Friday we toured the Alstom Ballarat workshops where world class trains are being built. It was amazing to see the carriages in all the different stages of construction and the guides were very informative and generous with their time. Great thanks go to Jill Earnshaw for organising this. In the evening we had dinner at the Ballarat Golf Club.Â
French Impressionism at NGV
On 15 Sep 2025, we visited the National Gallery of Victoria to enjoy the French Impressionism exhibition which was brought from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
TAC at Museum
NEL June 2025
A group of around 50 attended a presentation by Sebastian Motta – Director, Delivery and other senior staff at the North East Link Project at Koonung Project Office. Most of the group then went to the Manningham Hotel or lunch.
DTP Feb 2025
A group of around 40 met at the Department of Transport & Planning to hear about the transition from VicRoads to the current arrangements.
